Biography:
Khan Noonien Singh, commonly known as Khan, is a fictional character originating in the Star Trek franchise. He is a genetically engineered superhuman, born with superior intellect and physical abilities.
First appearing in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Space Seed" (1967), Khan is presented as the leader of a group of genetically enhanced individuals who once ruled a significant portion of Earth during the Eugenics Wars of the 1990s.
After being revived from suspended animation aboard the USS Enterprise, Khan attempts to seize control of the ship. He is ultimately defeated and exiled to the planet Ceti Alpha V with his followers.
Khan returns as the antagonist in the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982). Seeking revenge on Admiral James T. Kirk, he attempts to steal a device called the Genesis Torpedo. The film culminates in a final battle where Khan is defeated, sacrificing himself to destroy the USS Enterprise.
The character was most recently portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch in the film Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), where his origin and motivations were reinterpreted.
